Connected networks: monitoring the fibre network
Telcomat, an expert in telecoms networks, has connected and digitised the telecoms poles of an international operator to detect, geolocate and provide real-time alerts of their fall via an application.
The Kuzzle IoT Open Source platform for the Smart City manages the entire pole park online, making it easier to monitor and inventory them.
It also simplifies the management and archiving of interventions to ensure they are properly installed.
As a result, the operator will be able to improve pole repair times, reduce the reported breakdown rate and make maintenance operations safer.
8 energy development weeks
Not only was the application quick to develop and deploy, but Kuzzle’s expertise and know-how also contributed to the project’s success. The good collaboration with the Kuzzle team, both technically and in terms of end-to-end project support, and our knowledge of the needs associated with the management of telecoms pole fleets, are the key to this success.

Kuzzle IoT: your IoT and Data Science platform
Kuzzle IoT is a new-generation Open Source IoT and Data Science platform that accelerates the deployment of your IoT applications. It is agnostic to sensor technologies, network connectivity and business systems, for simplified, centralized management.
Kuzzle lets you reduce IoT application deployment times, so you can concentrate on your core business.
Turnkey urban hypervisor
This project is being deployed in the Pays d’Iroise and Ouessant communities, and extends to the 270 communes and towns belonging to SDEF. Kuzzle IoT is used to manage and control the Smart City.
Inventory & alerts
The supervisor visualizes his pole park on a map and consults their status in real time. He is notified of any malfunction detected on a telecom pole.
Geolocation
Thanks to geolocation, the maintenance technician takes the best route to the site and intervenes in complete safety.
Historisation
Kuzzle IoT makes it easy to manage and record interventions, to validate correct installation. The angle of detection can be adjusted to suit the terrain.
Mobile application for locating connected telecom poles
Thanks to the real-time Mobile and Web application, teams benefit from real-time information on pole status, and can :
- Get an overview of the pole fleet and associated services
- Monitor falls with real-time alerts and notifications
- Protect and secure personnel during maintenance operations
- Geolocate poles and calculate their intervention routes
- Add new connected services to poles.
Results of the project developed with the Kuzzle IoT platform
Our Smart City solution is currently being deployed in the Paris region to carry out all the tests required to validate the project, in areas chosen by supervisors for their accident-prone nature.
TELCOMAT SAS is a family-owned French company launched in 2010 by Roger Belval, who has developed a complete range of equipment, tools and installation machines dedicated to the construction and maintenance of underground and overhead telecom networks. Telcomat has positioned itself as an expert in telecoms infrastructures, and for several years has been supplying regional very high speed broadband (VHS) sites.
