Do you have any questions about our IoT platform?
We tell you everything below!
What is an IoT platform?
An IoT (Internet of Things) platform is a set of services that enables rapid launch of IoT projects by providing essential capabilities such as sensor management, connectivity, networking, data analysis and visualisation.
An IoT platform is a multi-layered technology that enables granular control of a fleet of connected objects. It centralises the management of connected objects and their data. An IoT platform collects, stores, correlates and analyses data from sensors in real time, enabling the data to be exploited via business dashboards.
What are the three main components of an IoT system?
The three essential components of an IoT network are:
Sensors:
A sensor is a device that connects equipment and makes it smart. It measures one or more variables and detects changes in the environment. It sends data via an IoT network to an IoT platform so that the data can be used in business applications.
The various sensor suppliers: IneoSense, EnOcean, Elsys, Abeeway, Ela Innovation
Connectivity and networks:
The IoT network enables information to be sent from the sensor to the IoT platform. Different communication protocols exist, and not all of them have the same characteristics. IoT connectivity must take into account network coverage, the battery life of objects, communication distance and service cost.
The different IoT networks: 4G/5G, LTE-M, NB-IoT, LPWAN, LoRa, Sigfox
IoT platforms:
IoT platforms enable data from connected devices to be collected, processed and analysed, and then returned in the form of business applications. Choosing an IoT platform that is interoperable with all sensor and network technologies facilitates the deployment of IoT projects.

What are the applications of IoT?
Today, the fields of application for IoT are endless.
Here are a few examples of applications made possible by the implementation of an IoT platform:
Smart City: public lighting management, carbon footprint reduction, energy efficiency optimisation
Smart Building: energy management, air quality optimisation
Smart Logistics: optimisation of delivery routes, vehicle fleet management
Smart Industry: improvement of energy efficiency at industrial sites, predictive maintenance of equipment
Connected Health: improvement of home patient monitoring, digitisation of patient records
Combined with Data Science, IoT platforms have become essential tools for technological evolution.
How to choose the right IoT platform?
It is essential to list evaluation criteria for an IoT platform according to its requirements: where is the data hosted, what is the level of security, is it agnostic: compatible with multiple protocols, multiple devices, and multiple IoT networks? Is it an open, flexible solution?
In addition, the company’s internal organization impacts the choice of its IoT platform: will a technical team be dedicated to the project? Or should low-code solutions be preferred to simplify adoption by users. These are all criteria that must be taken into account.
Which architecture should I choose for my IoT project?
The IoT architecture, or Internet of Things architecture, corresponds to the organization of the different elements of your IoT project. It defines which physical components are used (connectors), their role, and the type of data collected. The architecture also refers to standards such as network configuration, security elements, and the data formats used, from data collection by devices to data visualization on your IoT platform. There are several IoT architectures that adapt depending on the project and its technical and technological constraints. Nevertheless, common criteria must be respected in order to make the right choices.

Does Kuzzle IoT support all types of sensors and protocols?
Yes, Kuzzle IoT is natively interoperable with all sensor technologies and network protocols.
The IoT platform supports the main market standards, such as MQTT, HTTP, CoAP, or WebSocket, as well as long-range IoT communication protocols such as LoRaWAN or Zigbee.
Thanks to its open architecture and integrated connectors, Kuzzle IoT easily adapts to your existing equipment, regardless of the manufacturer or the technology used.
How long does it take to connect my first devices?
Kuzzle IoT has been designed to enable a fast start, including during the proof of concept (PoC) phase.
Thanks to its sensor library, preconfigured connectors, and simplified provisioning, the connection of the first devices can be done in just a few hours to a few days, depending on the complexity of your environment.
This speed of implementation has notably been demonstrated in many projects, such as the one carried out with Bouygues, where the first results were obtained very quickly.
Can I manage maintenance and OTA software updates via the platform?
Yes, Kuzzle IoT includes advanced device lifecycle management features, including remote maintenance and OTA (Over-The-Air) software updates.
You can monitor the status of your sensors, schedule or trigger updates, and centralize maintenance operations, without any physical intervention in the field.
Result: improved security, reduced intervention costs, and optimized management of your fleet of connected objects.
What volume is supported by Kuzzle IoT?
Kuzzle IoT is designed to operate at scale, with a highly scalable architecture.
It can manage from thousands to millions of sensors, with variable data reporting frequencies depending on the use cases (real-time, periodic measurements, conditional events, etc.).
The IoT platform can be deployed in a cluster to handle large volumes, with high availability, load management, and real-time storage and processing capabilities.
Does Kuzzle IoT offer a Cloud or on-premise environment?
Yes, Kuzzle IoT is available in cloud mode or on-premise deployment, depending on your hosting constraints.
You can choose to host the IoT solution in a French sovereign cloud, on your own infrastructures, or in a hybrid environment.
This level of flexibility ensures total control of your data, compliance with sovereignty requirements (GDPR, etc.), and adaptation to your organization’s security policies.
How can Kuzzle IoT help me optimize the maintenance of my equipment?
Kuzzle IoT allows you to continuously monitor the status of your equipment (sensors, meters, controllers, etc.) and detect anomalies before they become critical.
Thanks to its rule engine, you can trigger alerts in case of malfunction detection, schedule preventive interventions, or automate certain actions.
This helps you prevent unexpected breakdowns, reduce maintenance intervention costs, and extend the lifespan of your assets.
Can Kuzzle IoT be used in a multisite or multi-user environment?
Absolutely. Kuzzle IoT is designed to manage multisite and multi-user deployments, with fine-grained rights and access management.
Each user can access a personalized view according to their scope (site, role, function), while benefiting from global supervision thanks to the multi-tenant system.
This allows local teams to be autonomous, while ensuring centralized governance and consistent data across the entire fleet.
